When the Canadian company Manhattan minerals wanted to make an open pit gold mine right in the middle of their town, the people of Tambogrande tried to stop it. Against incredible odds with the support of Development and Peace and others, the community was able to prevent the mine. Their creativity and persistence are an inspiration to all.
